The Baker Brothers return with a new album of neo funakteering material. Boosted by the appearance of large lunged warbler Vanessa Freeman on a number of tracks, the Brothers have created an album that thankfully looks forward as well as back. Heavy guitars and flowing brass meet behind Vanessa’s questioning vocals on “Walk Into My World”. “Ponky Wockett’s Revenge” is a grittily strummed number, with earthy drumming and eager keys. The Baker Brothers are never going to win any prizes for innovation, but their music is reassuring like the smell of a freshly cooked loaf.
